Mutual of Omaha and the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA) have partnered to create the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Program, recognizing the accomplishments of African American students in the Omaha community as they pursue further education and training.
Each year, students are invited to submit applications to IMA explaining how they demonstrate the same character traits exemplified by Dr. King, including their involvement in church, extracurricular activities and community service. Applications are reviewed by the IMA Outreach Committee and the overall winners are selected and presented $1,000 from Mutual of Omaha to be used for further college education and/or vocational training. The recipients are also recognized at IMA's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon.
