Determine Your Disability Income Insurance Needs

How would you pay your bills if you were
sick or injured?

If your paycheck suddenly stopped because of a disability, you'd still have to pay your mortgage or rent, utilities, car payment, groceries - and all your other monthly expenses.

Disability income insurance provides helpful benefits. Read these customers' stories from our 2004 Annual Report.

What are the odds?

  • An illness or accident will keep 1 in 5 workers out of work for at least a year before the age of 65.1
  • Close to 90 percent of disabling accidents and illnesses are not work-related.2
  • Only 34.1 percent of almost 2.2 million people who applied for Social Security disability benefits were approved in 2007.3
  • 70 percent of the private sector workforce has no long-term disability insurance.4
