What are the odds?
- Three out of every 10 workers between the ages of 25 and 65 will experience an accident or illness that keeps them out of work for three months or longer.1
- Nearly 50 percent of mortgage foreclosures are caused by disability (only 2 percent are caused by death).2
- 90 percent of disabling accidents and illnesses are not work-related3
- Only 39 percent of the 2.1 million people who applied for Social Security disability benefits were approved in 20054
- Fewer than 3 in 10 U.S. workers participate in private long-term disability plans.5
