As our Underwriting Support Specialist, you’ll handle the processing and servicing of new business applications, manage escalations, and ensure effective communication with policyholders. You’ll also become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on underwriting support tasks and take the lead on process improvements.


WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Hourly Wage: $26.75 - $28.00 plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • Remote opportunity.

  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead initial review of Evidence of Insurability (EOI) health applications and ensure accuracy before files move to the medical underwriting team.
  • Oversee correspondence with policyholders and group members via email and phone, and handle escalations.
  • Train and mentor new employees while becoming the SME on all tasks handled by Underwriting Support Associates.
  • Manage and document processes and procedures, seeking opportunities to streamline and improve efficiencies.
  • Foster a collaborative relationship between the underwriting support associates and medical underwriters, acting as a resource for process-related questions.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • At least 1 year of experience in underwriting or related fields.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn quickly and take ownership of tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle inquiries and issues professionally.
  • Empathy and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.

  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
