Available with voluntary, non-contributory and contributory options
- Flexible plan designs
- Own job definition of disability – not own occupation
- Plans may include annual open enrollment, reduced pre-ex limitation
- Pre-ex is waived for employees insured under a prior individual or group short term disability plan*
- Mutually Progressive Partial work incentive disability benefit – with as little as a 1 percent earnings loss

- Replaces a percentage of salary (usually 50 to 60 percent)
- Option of elimination periods being satisfied with either total or partial days of disability
- Premium waived while receiving voluntary disability benefits

- Seamless transition to long-term disability if the employee has both Mutual short term disability and long term disability insurance
